Dr. Frankenstein and her reluctant assistant Shmuggle are creating a Monster. Dr. Frankenstein is elated that she has managed to create life, but explains to her weeping creation that she isn't a mothering type. The poor unloved Monster is cast out with only a book, entitled 'How to get a girlfriend', into the world. He decides to follow the advice in the book to find a girlfriend.
The play is a comedy written for performance by children. It contains humour that will be enjoyed by both children and adults in the audience. The play is suitable as part of their Halloween celebrations, or as an alternative St. Valentine's Day play. It is only loosely based on the classic by Mary Shelley. The play script includes producer notes with a suggested song and dance.

What is Halloween?
Nowadays, Halloween is associated with costume parties (not just for kids), carving pumpkins, decorating houses and gardens, trick-or-treating, watching horror movies and telling scary stories.
The festival first made it to North America in the nineteenth-century with emigrants from Ireland and Scotland.
But what are the origins of Halloween?
The Celts had a big party on 31st October called Samhain. That was a time of the year when they thought that spirits could enter the world of the living. They dressed up, had bonfires, made jack-o'-lanterns from turnips and went visiting the neighbours. It all sounds a bit familiar, doesn't it?
By the end of the twelth-century, Christians were celebrating 1st and 2nd November as days to honour saints and remember the recently departed. Mums cooked special cakes and children went from door-to-door in disguise asking for them.
Add a healthy dose of modern merchandising and we have Halloween as celebrated in modern times.
