School assemblies are a chance to celebrate achievements; bring pupils of all ages together; and, communicate important items of news.  Often one class has the stage (literally), and it's their chance to show everyone what they've been learning.

Occasionally, hard-pressed teachers ask themselves serious things when they're all alone in class.  One example of this is the perennial question: “What on Earth should my class assembly be about?”  Well, it might not be of much help, but here's a list of what a class assembly should absolutely, definitely never feature.

Most of our assembly scripts last about 20 minutes and provide roles for whole class. To help you more with some ideas, here is a list of various festivals, holidays and special days that can feature in your assembly.  Ideas more specific to the current term can be found here.  We have about 60 assemblies for KS1 and KS2 - we have sorted them by UK Year group (or American grade).
